Volunteer Description and Expectations

Each year The National Society of Collegiate Scholar (NSCS) receives over 1000 applications for The Merit Award Scholarship. Applications are received from its outstanding members around the United States and Puerto Rico. In order to determine which of these students receives the award, NSCS recruits volunteers to read and score the applications.

This page is designed to help you volunteer as a scholarship reader to review scholarships for the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Membership to the National Society of Collegiate Scholars is not a requirement; Scholarship readers will be required to read student papers and rank winning papers to determine applicants moving to the final round. At the reading event, we will provide the applications to be scored and train volunteers on how to evaluate the applications.
