Unlike most individual or employer health plans, the student health plan available to NSCS members is backed by an organization that is entirely dedicated to providing and administering student health insurance.
UnitedHealthcare StudentResources' website, www.uhcsr.com, provides easy, online enrollment that takes only minutes. But, it also provides a wealth of information for students who are unfamiliar with the concepts and terminology of insurance, Health Insurance 101. The Wellness area of www.uhcsr.com provides one click access to the information available on www.MyStudentHealthZone.com. The Zone has almost 80 encyclopedias worth of health information, targeted toward college students. From losing the Freshman 15 to the pros and cons of Body Piercing or Tattooing, the Zone presents topics in an unbiased manner. The Zone doesn't accept advertising and doesn't track visitors. It is a confidential resource for students to research their health questions.
Because students don't usually have free time during standard business hours, StudentResources' MyAccount function provides 24/7 self service for information about your student health insurance. MyAccount allows you to track claims status, print a temporary ID card, request a new permanent ID card, confirm your coverage and more, all at your convenience. UnitedHealthcare StudentResources Customer Service Representatives only work with students and schools. They are trained in our plan and can assist any student with any question. Customer Service is available from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, Central Time. Customer Service can also be reached via email to customerservice [at] uhcsr [dot] com.
In addition to a plan that is available exclusively to NSCS members and priced to be affordable, the value-added benefits included with the plan were selected and developed with students in mind:
• Emergency Travel Medical Assistance: For students traveling 100 miles or more from home or campus, this benefit provides a wealth of emergency assistance services from assistance in obtaining a forgotten prescription to locating a medical provider or facility in a foreign country.
• Collegiate Assistance Program (CAP): College can be a stressful time - away from home, friends and away from familiar physicians. Developed with students in mind, CAP provides 24/7 toll-free access to Registered Nurses and Student Assistance Specialists that are available to answer health-related questions as well as listen to issues you may be having on a personal, work, legal or financial matter.
• UnitedHealth Allies: Money can be scarce for a college student. The UnitedHealth Allies discount program, included with every policy at no additional cost, helps you stretch your healthcare dollar.
