Service

"Service" — as in community service, as in donating time and talent for the good of one's community and the individuals within it — is one of the three pillars on which NSCS was founded.

"Service" is an integral component of the NSCS tradition, culture, and action. In fact, NSCS literally cannot exist without it — no chapter is granted charter until it has a Vice President for Community Service.

This has as much to do with the fact that it's the "right" thing to do as it does with the fact that by engaging in the community and improving the lives of those around us, we are also developing ourselves.

Some of the programs are national initiatives that take place locally:

And others are driven by the needs of a specific community, such as holding social activities for seniors at an assisted living facility, creating an after-school program for children in a disadvantaged area, or raising funds for the research of a disease that has affected a fellow student or administrator.

NSCS also joins forces with service partners that already are making a difference in communities around the world.
