”Having never been to Latin America, attending the Semester at Sea Short-Term 2012 voyage sounded like my perfect study abroad program. Perfect – except for the high cost of tuition, room, and board. The NSCS scholarship makes attending the Short-Term voyage not just feasible, but a reality! Thanks to the NSCS scholarship, I am able to participate in a program that will expand my horizons cross-nationally, allow me to learn about different cultures, and hopefully gain a better understanding of the world. Thank you NSCS for this opportunity; I am extremely grateful to have been selected as the recipient of the scholarship.” –Shannon Najmabadi, University of California, Berkeley |

“I am very excited about being selected for the Short-Term Scholarship. This trip will hold many firsts for me such as being on a cruise, visiting the southern hemisphere, as well as studying abroad which I feel will broaden my cultural experience and outlook. I will also be going to Machu Pichu and Galapagos Islands. This wouldn’t have been possible if not for NSCS’s support. I'm able to go on the voyage only because of the scholarship as it offsets the tuition cost. I am very thankful to NSCS for this wonderful opportunity." –Ranjit Vadlamannati, University of Florida |

“As a double major and triple minor, I never thought I would have the opportunity to study abroad in a foreign country. But now, because of NSCS, I will be leaving on the Semester at Sea Maymester Voyage to Central and South America in just a few short weeks. I will be visiting five different countries and doing everything from sightseeing at Machu Picchu to holding sloths at a local sloth sanctuary. I will be taking canoe rides through mangrove tunnels, visiting a local elementary school, and transiting the Panama Canal. While I will be visiting many other typical tourist places, I will also be taking "off road adventures" that will allow me to visit more local spots as well. Hopefully this experience will really help me to look at, learn about, and experience our world in a whole new way. I am SO EXCITED to have been offered this opportunity of a lifetime and am extremely grateful to both NSCS and SAS. I cannot wait to leave on my trip!” –Melanie Solano, Saint Joseph’s University |

"Semester at Sea has been my dream study abroad program since I was in the 11th grade. The main obstacle that I had while pursuing this dream was the steep cost of tuition, room, and board. I am so grateful to be chosen as the recipient of the SAS Spring 2012 scholarship. NSCS has really helped me transfer my dream into a reality." -Marisa Grimes, Auburn University |
