Studying abroad has become more than just a way to learn a language. Modern studies suggest
college students need more international and cultural knowledge to successfully adapt to society
post-college: having an international background is an important tool socially, professionally and

"With the help of the NSCS Scholar Abroad Award, I will have the opportunity to partake is the most gratifying and beneficial emotional and mental experience of my education. With four brothers and sisters, a part-time job and school - the notion of studying abroad seemed improbable and I could not thank - or give enough credit to - the help that NSCS has supplied me with. I will be traveling to Paris, France to complete my thesis on Women and the Veil under President Nicholas Sarkozy's ban on the veil. I will be visiting French ghettos, conducting interviews and producing a documentary. Projects such as these are vital to the social dynamic of varying religions across the world and I want to thank NSCS for being a part of that experience." |

"This scholarship means everything to my studies and my overall Italian experience. I can now fully take advantage of studying in one of the world’s most beautiful and historically captivating countries without an overwhelming financial burden. You have not only awarded me $5000; you have given me the opportunity to truly experience Italy with an open heart and mind minus the worries of heavy student loans and post-graduation debt. This freedom of mind means more than you can imagine; this freedom of mind means everything... Thank you for the amazing gift you have given me. Your generosity will not be forgotten as I begin my journey towards coming to know this world we live in, making it better along the way." |
