Scholar Abroad Scholarship

Studying abroad has become more than just a way to learn a language. Modern studies suggest college students need more international and cultural knowledge to successfully adapt to society post-college: having an international background is an important tool socially, professionally and educationally. NSCS proudly offers scholarship funding to help expand our members' horizons. One $5,000 scholarship is awarded each fall and spring semester and one $2,500 scholarship is awarded for the summer term.

Eligibility

• Must be an active NSCS member
• Must be attending an accredited university
• Must have a minimum 3.4 G.P.A
• Must have a complete profile on NSCS
• Must be a fan of your NSCS Chapter Fan Page on Facebook
• Must have an updated resume on NSCS Scholar Jobs
• Must have applied to the study abroad program of your choice for Spring 2010 
• Must be accepted and enrolled in the study abroad program of your choice for Spring 2010 
• Please note, all scholarships are disbursed directly to study abroad program

Spring 2010 Key Dates:

Application Opens:   September 10, 2009
Application Closes:   October 31, 2009
Notification Date:     January  2010

Summer 2010 Key Dates:

Application Opens: January 11, 2010
Application Closes: March 20, 2010
Notification Date:    May 2010

Fall 2010 Key Dates:

Application Opens: April 12, 2010
Application Closes: June 12, 2010
Notification Date: August 2010

Recommendation Letter FAQ

• Please download recommendation form
• All recommendation letters must be postmarked

My recommender sent in their recommendation letter late. Will it still be accepted?
No, it is your responsibility to let the recommender know of the postmark deadlines. No exceptions will be granted.

Your recommender can also fax the letter of recommendation with NSCS recommendation form, so far we have the signature of your recommender and a phone number we can contact them with. NSCS Fax # is 202.265.920
