Inspire Integrity Awards $1000

The National Society of Collegiate Scholars' Inspire Integrity Awards are the only national student-nominated faculty awards program. These awards are presented to full-time university faculty and administration who have, through their lessons and actions, made a significant impact on the lives of their students and instilled a high degree of personal and academic integrity. Make a difference on your campus by nominating a faculty member or administrator who has inspired integrity in you and your classmates!

Congratulations to the 2012 Inspire Integrity Recipients:

National Recipient George H. Davis from The University of Arizona

“Being named the national recipient of NSCS’s teaching-based “Inspire Integrity Award” is a great honor, particularly because nominations and testimonies came from students.  Just being nominated for the award felt good, especially when I learned that the initiative came from one of the wonderful students who were part of a first semester-first year Honors College seminar I taught on “What It Means to Be Human: Our Place in the Universe.” The award gives proof that first year seminars can indeed make a difference to brand new students just entering large comprehensive research universities.  Furthermore, it calls attention to the professional satisfactions and growth that ‘seasoned’ professors can experience when they stretch beyond their specialties to serve incoming freshmen who are just beginning to explore pathways and develop habits of scholarship and service.  Through the “Inspire Integrity Award” NSCS is emphasizing, I believe, that undergraduates benefit enormously when they grasp that  “Integrity” is a core value proposition in scholarship and service.  The “Inspire” part of this award is the more difficult and humbling to address.  I will simply say what is obvious to dedicated faculty throughout colleges and universities: namely, the very inspiration that can flow from teachers and mentors is, in fact, inspired by the students themselves.  This certainly has been my experience.”
