Route 66 Scholarship

NSCS is proud to present the Route 66 Scholarship in conjuction with the Route 66 Tour. NSCS will be awarding up to $14,000 throughout the Tour to the seven schools listed below. We will also be awarding up to $1,000 to one student at each of the seven campuses.

The Route 66 Tour is a nationwide tour sponsored by The National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Jullien Gordon, and corporate sponsors to prepare the millennial generation for success in their campuses, communities, and careers.

Eligibility:

1. You must register for Route 66 here: http://tour.route66.cc/home/
2. You must be enrolled in an undergraduate program in an accredited institution
3. You must attend the Route 66 event on your school campus (recipients will be announced during the event. If recipient is not present at the given time, the award will be presented to the next runner up)
4. You must attend one of the colleges below, or at a college within driving distance of one of the schools listed below

 

Scholarship Award:

  • Four students are eligible to win $250 each at each Route 66 event based on their essay submissions.
  • The four students will be asked to present their essay at the Route 66 event for the opportunity to win an additional $750. 
  • The audience will select the student with the best presentation and the student will then be awarded the additional $750.

Deadline to apply for Route 66 Scholarships: 

  • George Mason University - September 1
  • Arizona State University - September 8
  • Purdue University - September 14
  • University of Toledo - September 21 
  • University Houston - September 27
  • Georgia Tech - October 5
  • Texas A & M  - October 12
  • Online Schools (Strayer, Baker, Kaplan, South University, Argosy University) - October 20

 

Instructions on applying for The Route 66 Scholarship:(please follow the  instructions carefully, as you might be disqualified if not followed

  • Go to The Route 66 website and learn about "the 66 Things a College Student Must Do Before Graduation"
  • Essay Question: Pick one thing out of the 66 things and write in 100 words or less on how you plan on applying it to your life right now.
  • Your subject line should be (school name - your name) Example: "George Mason University - Julie Andrews"
  •  Submit your application via Rt66scholarship [at] nscs [dot] org

Key Dates: 

  • Application Opens: July 1, 2010
  • Application Closes: Deadlines are specific to each school, please see the deadlines above
  • Notification Date: Recipients will notified 10 days before Route 66 takes place on their campus ( please check above for the Route 66 dates on your campus)
