Two NSCS Members are Cambell Trophy Finalists  Tysyn Hartman of Kansas State University and Jared Karsetter of Washington State University are two of sixteen finalists. The Campbell Trophy is one of college football's most sought after and competitive awards, recognizing an individual as the absolute best in the country for his combined academic success, football performance and exemplary community leadership. The award comes with a 24-inch, 25-pound bronze trophy and a $25,000 postgraduate scholarship.

NSCS Officers Help to Establish UMES Chapter in Less Than Six Months  See page five of The Key - The National Society of Collegiate Scholars, the only honor society to recognize high-achieving freshmen and sophomores, now has a chapter at UMES thanks to a dedicated group of students.

VP of PACE at MSU Recieves Scholarships  VP PACE at MSU, Jennifer Bui received the Alderman Endowed Scholarship, Ag 100 Endowed Scholarship and the Minor S. and Helen G. Gray Endowed Scholarship from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Mississippi State University.

NSCS member and former Auburn diver named  Rhodes Scholar finalist Former Auburn diver Dan Mazzaferro has been named a finalist for the Rhodes Scholarship, marking the third straight year the Auburn swimming and diving program has produced a Rhodes finalist.

Canopy Club to Host Open Mic Fundraiser  The University chapter of National Society of Collegiate Scholars, or NSCS, will host an open mic night at the Canopy Club this Friday to raise funds for the Robert Brei II Foundation. The foundation was created to assist Brei and his family with medical costs incurred throughout his two bouts with cancer.

NSCS member Nominated for Lowe's Baseball Senior CLASS Award Virginia Cavaliers' right handed pitcher Tyler Wilson is one of the ten nominees for the 2011 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award, an annual award celebrating an athlete's success over four years, both through competition, in the classroom, and among the community. CLASS stands for "Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School."

NSCS member and daughter of ex-redskins Qb Cailtin Brunell to be queen in The Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival The Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival picked the daughter of a former Washington Redskins quarterback to wear the crown as queen in this year's Bloom. Organizers announced Tuesday afternoon that Caitlin Brunell would serve as Queen Shenandoah LXXXIV-designate. The 18- year-old freshman at the University of Alabama is the daughter of Mark and Stacy Brunell. Her father, currently a member of the New York Jets, played quarterback for the Redskins from 2004 through 2008 and led the team to a 10-6 record and a playoff victory in the 2005 season.

NSCS Member Wins National Scholarship for Excellence in Research Pittsburgh junior Wen Xu, who is majoring in Neuroscience, has received national recognition in winning the 2011 Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship for her excellence in the field of research. The type of research Wen is working on includes research in Pitt's Stem Cell Reseach Center. Her specific project is working towards assisting functional skeletal muscle recovery after an injury occurs by using growth factor-derived stem cells... Trinity University Senior and NSCS Member Earns Postgraduate Scholarship Trinity University senior Danika Wright (Alpine, Utah/Lone Peak), a defender on the Tigers women's soccer team, has been awarded a prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. She became the 31st Tiger student-athlete to earn a Postgraduate Scholarship. Trinity is ranked in the top-10 for Postgraduate Scholarships among NCAA Division III schools.

Villanova Lacrosse Player Honored On and Off the Field NSCS member Brian Karalunas knows how to carry himself on and off the lacrosse field. Because of this he has been nominated for the CLASS awars. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence - community, classroom, character and competition.

NSCS Member Named International Scholar Laureate President of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars Katie Melton will travel to Melbourne, Australia in June 2011 where she will begin researching and shadowing Dr. Marguerite C.
