January 24, 2011– Washington DC –The National Society of Collegiate Scholars members Glenn Madigan of Columbia College, Ashley Braud of Southeastern Louisiana University and Alyssa Diehl of Kaplan University are the 2010 recipients of the Board of Directors Award.
The NSCS Board of Directors has created and funded these three $1,500 awards to recognize outstanding NSCS members who have distinguished themselves through their involvement, enthusiasm and support for the organization.
Madigan (class of 2013) is a design major, Braud (class of 2012) is an accounting major and Diehl (class of 2011) is a health science major. To apply for the award, students were required to creatively answer a question pertaining to why they joined and continue to be involved in NSCS.
They were given free reign over what mediums would best convey their answers and each recipient chose a unique, creative way to address the reasons why they are a part of NSCS.
“The three NSCS recipients were able to use their creativity to create outstanding projects that thoroughly answered the question they were given,” said Cynthia Uguru, Scholarships Manager. “They each took the idea a little farther than the other applicants and truly impressed me as well as the entire scholarship review committee.”
This marked the first year NSCS has awarded the NSCS Board of Directors Award scholarship. Recipients were selected based on the message and creativity of their scholarship essay applications by a biased scholarship review committee.
