America’s Promise supports the NSCS PACE (Planning to Achieve Collegiate Excellence) program through activities focusing on the importance of youth education and college enrollment. Mrs. Alma Powell is featured in the 2011 Induction ceremony video presentation highlighting the support offered by American’s Promise and NSCS.

 

NSCS members have the opportunity to enroll in a checking account and credit card with Bank of America.  Members will receive an NSCS branded Mastercard and for every new account or use of the credit card, a contribution is made to the NSCS Scholarship Fund.

Better World Books collects and sells books online to help fund literacy initiatives worldwide.  Better World Books also supports organizations by helping to plan and execute book drives on college campuses nationwide.  NSCS chapters have the opportunity to organize a Better World Books book drive to support their chapter’s activities.

NSCS members from around the country are encouraged to register for courses at New York University (NYU). NYU Summer offers both undergraduate and graduate courses in New York City and 25 locations around the globe. NYU Global offers fall or spring semester or for a full academic year at our global academic centers in locations across the world. Short-term sessions are also available at the centers during the summer.  As an NYU student, NSCS members will have access to NYU campus resources.

For more than 30 years, the Institute for Shipboard Education (ISE) has offered students a unique view of the world aboard a floating university. This is a once in a lifetime educational opportunity where students will develop an appreciation of cultural diversity.  NSCS members are eligible to apply for enrollment into the fall, spring or summer programs.

NSCS members are made aware of the Special Olympics grant opportunity and the ability to get involved or host an event for The R-Word campaign.

Teach For America has a network of more than 25,000 members. Today some 5,000 corps members are leading classrooms across the country while more than 20,000 alumni are effecting broader changes to help close the achievement gap.  NSCS members are included in past and present corps and continue to participate.

The Fund for American Studies bring NSCS members a semester-long program that combines academics with real-world experience. The President’s Volunteer Service Award was created by President George W. Bush in 2002 to recognize the tens of millions of Americans who have made a sustained commitment to volunteer service. The award is given to NSCS members who have demonstrated outstanding volunteer service and civic participation by completing 100 hours of service over the course of a 12-month period.
