NEW YORK MEDICAL COLLEGE SCHOOL OF PUBLIC HEALTH

Students are in good company at the School of Public Health at New York Medical College, whether they are traditional students with newly earned bachelor's degrees, second-career seekers, or returning professionals.

The college offers a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree in several disciplines, among them: health policy and management, epidemiology, global/international health, behavioral sciences and health promotion, and environmental health science. All students get hands-on experience dealing with health issues at the community level, in the greater New York area, the Hudson Valley, and southwestern Connecticut. The MPH allows graduates to take a pro-active role in promoting health behaviors, strengthening community health and preventive services, and ensuring access to quality health care for all. The MPH in Health Policy and Management and several graduate certificate in Emergency Preparedness are available in an online format (no residency requirement).

Graduate certificates in health education/Certified Health Education Specialist, management of long-term care facilities, emergency preparedness, global health, industrial hygiene and others may be combined with the MPH. Earn a graduate degree or certificate online or by attending weekly classes full-time or part-time, late afternoon and evenings.

A Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) degree is offered in Health Policy and Management. Students accepted into the School of Medicine at New York Medical College have the opportunity to pursue a MD/MPH dual degree simultaneously.

In addition, the school offers a Master of Science (MS) degree in speech-language pathology, one of a handful of medically-oriented programs in the nation, and one of only two located in an accredited school of public health. Graduates are prepared to work in schools, hospitals, nursing homes and rehabilitation centers, treating communication deficits as one dimension of complex congenital syndromes, developmental disorders, disease, or traumatic injuries.

The three-year Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) offers students an opportunity to be involved in an innovative curriculum that blends traditional coursework with Problem-Based Learning. Graduates are prepared to practice autonomously in all clinical settings, and adapt their practice strategies to changes in the healthcare environment. This advanced standard of practice corresponds to patient's "direct access" to physical therapists in New York and more than 40 other states.

Graduates of both the MS in Speech-Language Pathology and the Doctor of Physical Therapy score well above the state and national averages on the respective licensure exams, and the majority have job offers before graduation! The School of Public Health is accredited by the Council of Education for Public Health (CEPH) and is a member of the Association of Schools of Public Health (www.asph.org). Attend an Open House/Information Session and visit the campus, or participate in one of our virtual online information sessions.
