General Scope of Responsibility:

The Manager will develop and be the brand ambassador for The Society of Torch and Laurel – a program developed by NSCS that recognizes high school high achievers and provides them and their families with the vital tools to successfully transition to college.

This position will build and manage core relationships and outreach activities with high school leaders, organizations, and associations to establish the credibility and benefits of the organization in order to help grow the program and the participation with high school scholars and their parents.  The Manager, The Society of Torch & Laurel will serve as an ambassador in the high school space while building partnerships between Torch & Laurel and other organizations/programs.  They will manage the program with the goal of growing it into a sustainable line of business that directly contributes to the organization’s bottom line.

 REPORTS TO:  Associate Director, Member Engagement Programs

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Develop a platform for The National Society of Collegiate Scholars newest program, The Society of Torch & Laurel, developing name recognition and long term growth.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key high school administrators, counselors, high school parent groups, college admission officers and other potential vendors.
  • Ensure recruitment campaign effectively represents The Torch & Laurel brand for impactful results.
  • Manage the Torch & Laurel budget.
  • Generate partnerships and sponsorships to develop connections with companies and organizations that will support The Torch and Laurel mission.
  • Identify opportunities, attend, and present at conferences on behalf of Torch & Laurel.
  • Travel as required to represent The Society of Torch & Laurel around the country about 10% of the year.

Type of Appointment:

This is a salaried “Exempt” position. Exempt means that positions typically include salaried employees with executive, administrative or professional jobs. Exempt employees are expected to work the hours necessary to get the job done yet at NSCS are afforded the flexibility (when the job requirements allow) of our flexible leave policies. Employees are exempt from the overtime pay requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Preferred
Minimum 3 years of professional experience with an emphasis on marketing/sales and program development in a K-12 environment preferred
Strong relationship management skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong project management with a result driven emphasis
Prior experience in a fast paced work environment
Ability to problem solve and think critically
Proficiency in MS Office Suite
Experience with Salesforce a plus
NSCS membership a plus
