Originally from Greenwood, Indiana—near Indianapolis—Jim Duncan moved to Washington in August 1993 to pursue a degree in Political Communication at The George Washington University.
Jim joined NSCS as a member of the GW chapter in 1995, and then joined the original NSCS staff in July 1998. He also worked for 12 years in the Washington office of Senator Edward M. Kennedy, first as an intern and then as a part-time staff assistant.
Jim has volunteered some of his time working with children and adolescents who have chronic illnesses and disabilities through programs at Children’s Hospital in Washington. Jim is himself a 20-year survivor of cancer who also has a visual impairment.
