Scholar of the Week

Sarah Beth Deringer

Date Recognized: September 6, 2010

Sarah Beth Deringer is an English major at Murray State University.

Outside of class, Sarah enjoys reading, volunteering at the Journey Baptist Church, attending Baptist Campus Ministries, writing, listening to music, going to concerts, and spending time with her friends. Sarah said the activities allow her to relax and meet new people outside of class.

This summer, Sarah is hoping to complete an internship at the Library of Congress. She said having an internship there will train her for a future career as a high school librarian.

Sarah plans to become an English teacher and a high school librarian after receiving her master's degree in Library Science. She wants to use her skills to help the students become life-long readers and writers.

Sarah's philosophy towards life is that it is an adventure designed by God to test us and make us who we are.

"Life is all about love and God. I want to be the girl who loves even if love isn't returned, who gives with all her heart, and who treats everybody special."

The Scholar of the Week is a recognition program for NSCS. Members are selected from a list of applicants to be featured on a given week.
