REPORTS TO:  Manager, Operations

General Description:

The Coordinator,  Member Services and Interaction embodies and exemplifies the idea that NSCS is the honor society that works for its members. This position serves as the face of NSCS through participation in online communities and direct interaction with members across social media and more traditional communication forums. This role is also responsible for managing NSCS’ customer service and member requests, ensuring that questions are answered in a timely and professional manner, and that members are further engaged in NSCS. The Coordinator, Member Services and Interaction will also be responsible for communicating feedback and member experiences to the rest of the NSCS TEAM.

 

Specific Responsibilities:

Online Community Management

  • Actively relate member benefits, NSCS’ mission, and general NSCS information by communicating extensively on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, college message boards and any online environment where our members or their parents are active.
  • Participate and star in NSCS videos, especially those that explain the benefits of membership and other member materials.

NSCS Customer Service

  • Ensure NSCS correspondence in all forums, including the main phone and e-mail inbox, are answered in a timely and professional manner.
  • Engage members via multiple forums to take advantage of NSCS member benefits, including national NSCS programs such as the NSCS Leadership Summit, Route 66 Tour, CHINA Academy, and on-campus chapter activities.
  • Create materials to assist interns and staff members in answering member and prospective member questions.
  • Increase membership through correspondence, converting prospects to members.

Member Feedback and Chapter Information Collection

  • Collect information/trends on the NSCS member experience as it relates to the Web site, national office, local chapters etc.
  • Disseminate feedback to national staff where appropriate, for example, giving user experience feedback in technology development and troubleshooting, selecting upcoming chapter events and member experiences to Outreach, and passing on leads for chapter development

Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge and comfort with social media, particularly Facebook and Twitter.
  • Natural interpersonal skills and a love of working with people.
  • A creative approach to problem-solving.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to change quickly and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • A desire to contribute to the overall success of NSCS.

Coordinator, Operations (posted 12.17.09)

REPORTS TO:  Manager, Operations

General Description:

The Coordinator, Operations is an integral part of the NSCS TEAM and the functions of this position require collaboration across all NSCS departments. The work of the Coordinator, Operations contributes not only to the success of the general operations of the NSCS office but also to key elements of NSCS member recruitment and communications. 

Specific Responsibilities:

Management of NSCS E-mail Deliverability Efforts

  • Troubleshoot potential grey and blacklisting of NSCS e-mails at university domains
  • Proactively manage relationships with campus IT/ e-mail departments, creating a network of personal contacts
  • Work with Coordinator, Marketing to track e-mail deliverability

Daily  Office Management

  • Track office and pantry supplies and reorder when necessary
  • Keep an extensive inventory of NSCS collateral including stationary, giveaways, and other printed materials.
  • Maintain the common work spaces including set-up for special events and projects
  • Handle all outgoing and incoming mail
  • Serve as vendor point of contact for day-to-day management and troubleshooting of  office equipment and supplies

Membership Recruitment Operations

  • Manage the receipt and processing of returned NSCS mail
  • Manage replacement and international member diploma fulfillment
  • Process new memberships and payments, credit card chargebacks, and returned checksManage the Self-nomination and Fee Waiver programs

Human Resources scheduling

  • Schedule interviews for job and internship applicants
  • Assist Manager, Operations in setting new hire orientation schedules

Assist with General Operations Management

  • Serve as back up for Manager, Operations on IT and vendor troubleshooting

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Demonstrated comfort with technology and troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, while managing multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to change quickly and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • A desire to contribute to the overall success of NSCS.
