President Volunteer Service Awards

Service is one of the three pillars of The National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and NSCS strives to celebrate and recognize members who make a positive change in the community. Members can earn recognition for their service activities through the President’s Volunteer Service Award.

The President’s Volunteer Service Award was created by President George W. Bush in 2002 to recognize the tens of millions of Americans who have made a sustained commitment to volunteer service. The award is given to NSCS members who have demonstrated outstanding volunteer service and civic participation by completing 100 hours of service over the course of a 12-month period.

Award recipients receive an official President’s Volunteer Service Award pin, a personalized certificate of achievement, a note of congratulations from the President of the United States, a letter from the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation, and have their name posted on the NSCS Web site.
