Social Media Intern

The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) is looking for social media addicts to intern for our social media team in the national office. We’re looking for college students who have enthusiasm for a wide array of channels and are well-versed in social media vocabulary, tools, processes, analytics, emerging trends and best practices. Working closely with the Manager, Social Media and Interaction, the Social Media Interns will enhance the NSCS brand, expand external online communications and support the NSCS social media communities. The Social Media Interns will actively represent NSCS on social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Google+ and Pinterest as well as on forums and the NSCS blogs TalkNerdy2Me and WishYouWorkedHere. This is an amazing opportunity to get real world exposure to social media efforts at an innovative organization.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in managing the implementation and administration of social media strategies
• Assist in reporting across social media platforms to understand ROI and growth opportunities
• Engage and seed content on NSCS’ social networking sites including Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn, forums and blogs
• Become an NSCS advocate in social media spaces, answering questions where appropriate while creating editorial, community-outreach efforts, and promotions
• Assist with creation and management of weekly social media contests
• Actively experiment with emerging social media tools, user-behaviors, and applications

Qualifications:

• Must possess creativity and demonstrate self-immersion in social media
• Solid work ethic, sense of urgency and desire to execute
• Creative copy writing experience a plus
• Resourcefulness; ability to operate and learn quickly
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms
• Good technical understanding and can pick up new tools quickly
• Excellent multi-tasking ability and the ability to make decisions under pressure
• NSCS membership and DC area location are preferred, but not required.
